I did so yesterday (okay, not from bt2beta but bt1final to bt2final).

The only things you will have to do:

    1. Make sure, you do not overwrite your win-partition. Mine is on sda1 and the installer suggested to install bt there.

    2. if your /etc/lilo.conf is already fine, make a backup of it (i.e.: mv /etc/lilo.conf /etc/lilo.conf.backup
If lilo.conf got lost, visit gentoo.org, the have a good page about boot loaders in their handbook. was helpful for me.
So you can simply destroy the lilo.conf which is installed, copy the old one over it and maybe run lilo once so it takes over your old lilo.conf.

    3. some settings may be overwritten - like window style or so. but the data and programs installed prior to your bt-update remain working (for example some file in /home or gkrellm)

Enjoy it and... I am not an expert and all information given is by best knowledge but without guarante.
