Hi I want to change adapter antenna . I want to buy this antenna 26dB WiFi 2.4GHz Wireless Router Antenna Booster,SMA*86 on eBay (end time 04-Jun-10 00:06:51 BST) but it is work beter before ALFA Network – WLAN, WiFi phone, ADSL, KVM, Bluetooth, PoE Products -- ARS-N19MBP

Take off as soon as you can the standard 2dbi aerial and fit a better one,omni are good if you are doing drive bys but if if based in same place,look at a more directional one (to blend in with surroundings of course :_

The first one looks like a scam, or false information at the least. It implies it's a booster (meaning it amplifies the signal), yet there is no power source for the amp. that leaves 26 dBi gain, which is.....ehm... improbable to say the least.
and finally, it has a connector which does not fit your Awus.

The second one looks pretty good though. Same connector (RP-SMA), and 10 dBi is a more realistic estimate of the gain. I have a 10 dBi omni here and there is a reasonable difference with the supplied 3 dBi antenna. Go for it.

Sounds like a good plan, the bigger the better....just make sure its one that will look in the direction that you want it to..no point having a omni if your aerial is next to a wall and can only look forward..

If its discreetly outside though a omni can be better to disguise and thus the placebo force comes into use..

you can buy 8 or 9 dbi omni,s off ebay for 5 to 10 pound though,but this yagi with the alfa 500mw auw036h card is ......ng stunning



On you tube you see some crazy projects but the best discreet one i ever saw..p was made with a normal satelite dish,the lnb removed and replaced with just a 5 dbi omni connected on just enough lead (not longer than 2 mtr ,the shorter the better)....connected to a alfa card /cough/cough

Directional parabolic aerials cost alot to buy....not if they are home made.

Shove one of them out side on the wall...placebo at is best,stand under neath with a beer and the people down the end of the street,or should i say,round the corner,up the next street..will just say hi to you and not wink a eye lid....beautifull

If you want a small directional antenna, your best bet would be to build a biquad antenna. they are completely flat, and can thus be mounted on the side of the box containing your other equipment. It's quite simple to build one, just google

A disguised antenna is generally a small antenna, which makes small builds possible, and opens the doors to new kinds of proof-of concepts. Yasager/the wifi pinapple is a nice example of this (HAK5 covered this). It would not have been possible with a huge yagi, unless you wanted to make a wifi palm tree
