Default Full screen when using CLI under virtualbox!

Hello, that's my first post in the forums, i hope to find useful stuffs to play with,
my problem is getting me confused, when i start backtrack4 that installed under vbox on ubuntu 9.04 it drops down to command line, that's fine for me, i don't wanna to go and start X window,
but the screen resolution is too low "800x600" preventing me from running long commands, so what's to do with this although i installed additions of vbox

thanks for the link it helped me, but my problem didn't solve.
when i give the the root username and password and run startx to get into gui the resolution becomes perfect 1440x900 or so, but as i mentioned above this only happen when switch to gui, but in case of cli the resolution is 800x600!
