Looking at the ifconfig -a and iwconfig outputs would probably be a good idea.
Hi
I installed BT4 on a Paralles5 VM on a MacBookPro. After install the network LAN and WLAN worked fine. Then i made an update with the Paket Manager and the Kernel and network drivers where updated i cant get to work the network anymore. The System doesnt recognize the network interfaces when i start the network (sudo /etc/init.d/networking start) all i get was device not found. What can i do to get it worked again ?
Thanks
Looking at the ifconfig -a and iwconfig outputs would probably be a good idea.

i have only lo when i control these outputs
my problem is the kernel update in the devel repository. in this update some network driver where updated and after a reboot i have no network access.
Something similar it's happening to me. After apt-get upgrade, all my wireless cards stopped working. During boot, I can see some errors while the system is loading my interface's firmware. I tried to plug a usb wireless device, but the result was the same: failed to load the firmware. "ifconfig wlan0/eth1 up" will just output "No such device".

I'm having this same issue:

I believe it occurs because of the package "linux-firmware". I'm testing this at the moment, I'll edit my post once I get results.
Note: I'm using an old Acer Travelmate 290, Intel Pro/Wireless 2100
EDIT: My suspicions were right. The package linux-firmware seem to be causing the problem. The solution for now is not to install that package.

yes it looks like very similar. after kernel update i have errors and no network only lo.
What card exactly? Could you post a lspci with just the entry of the card?
Could you also check dmesg and post the relevant message so that we can figure out what's wrong and fix it.
I reported this to emgent, the repos are updated and the problem gone. See if it works for you. Thanks to emgent and to all who made themselves available to help!
The repos were updated. Try now and see if it works. You'll have to re-install BT4 to restore network access in order to be able to update. Tell me if it works for you.
