The first thing I would check for is a badly created USB version of BT4. Try recreating, and make sure you are following the instructions appropriately.

I installed BT4 Live CD in USB using unetbootin ( as in How To section) but after boot up the following appears
(initramfs) _
How do I proceed to the desktop ?

You are right ! The USB was badly created.
My problem is that I had downloaded the BT4 iso and burnt into DVD and the DVD works fine. However, when I tried to create the USB with unetbootin the file extraction stopped at file 12 of 14.
I even redownloaded unetbootin and still the problem remains.

Check the MD5 hash of the BT4 image. If thats OK the problem is likely with unetbootin and you may want to check with them for support info.

Thanks for all the advices.
Tried a few times to install and finally successful. As to why the last few installation were not successful is still a mistery.
