Hello everyone!
Last month I have downloaded BT4 final and i really love it!
Only there's one problem. I have a router where i can test the crack software on. My router has a WEP security.
If I run Backtrack 3 i can easily connect to my test router, but if I try it with backtrack4 i can't connect!
It just keep stucking at "authentication validation" and after a minute i get a message: "not connected".
Can someone help me with my problem?
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to BT4.
Did you start your networking interfaces?
Also posting the exact error message on the program you are running would be helpful.
~Icicle
try to connect without encryption
investigate driver issues
try different wifi card
read the FAQ
search the forums
post actual information about hardware used
----
rinse, wash, repeat.
good luck with that.

Just to continue Icicle's post if you don't know how to start your networking interfaces, its -
sudo start-network
iwconfig wlan0 essid network_name key 1122334455
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhclient wlan0
Hi again,
@ FurryTurtle
I knew that or else i couldnt enter the key
@ Icicle
I have done that, i tested my wireless card with a normal router with WPA2 encryption. I can connect to that router within a split second.
@ macphail
Could you please explain, why i can connect to wep in BT3 and not in BT4?
@ ikonitas
I tried that yes, but i still cant connect to my test router.
I have a normal wifi card from my laptop "broadcom" and an Alfa wireless adapter and i cant connect to WEP with both of them.
Very strange problem![]()
What Macphail is saying, is alot of this has been gone over through out the forum, we need to know more about your wireless card, broadcom, Alfa, really don't tell us anything, look on broadcom page, and see how many different cards/usb dongles/mini pcie ect there is we are not mind readers we cant help with out info, chip set, more in depth on what you have tried.

The step by step guide to Backtrack.
1. Open up your Internet Browser.
2. Go to google Home Page.
3. Type in exactly what you are looking for in search box provided.
4. Use your mouse to go were it says, search, click on it.
5. Read till your eyes bleed.
6. Rinse, wash, repeat.
