Hi,
I have a problem with backtrack 4.
after update the kernel from 2.6.30.9 into 2.6.34(by this guide - link) and reset, my mouse stoped working after the reset in backtrack 4.
I tried to connect it in the usb connector and in ps/2 ,I also tried diffrent mouse.
before the update my mouse worked perfect.
I have no idea why It happened or how to fix it, I am pretty new in linux.
by the way I use backtrack persistent on usb if its change any thing...
any thing could help if you need any info just say.
thanks for any help!.
Ok the message file is attach to this message(Message_File.zip which by the way is a rar file...I change it so I could upload it...).
and I think the USB working. (because when I connected the disk on key it wrote me this:
"sd 11:0:0:0 [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through"(twice)).
So any idea how to fix it? if I can restore the old kernel or something.
Any way if you need any thing else just say...
Thanks for trying to help.
Are you sure, the kernel update runs without problems?
your "/var/log/messages":
Jul 16 10:11:08 bt syslogd 1.5.0#2ubuntu6: restart.
Jul 16 10:11:08 bt kernel: Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.6.30.9
Jul 16 10:11:08 bt kernel: Cannot find map file.
check this "uname -r"
I have the same problem. after "rm -rf /lib/modules/2.6.30.9/" the kernel modules are ... "away" and the new modules are not integrated yet. I have still no solutions. :/
hey men, i saw your log file, and i don't see errors when you plug the mouse, the think i saw meaby with problems, it's i read lines where say's that you have a usb external hub if i'm not wrong, if you have a external usb hub and you connect the mouse to that, try to plug your mouse direct to an usb port, regards.
ah you right i have the same problem you got...my backtrack "think" its still 2.6.30.9.
i hope there is a solution for this.
thanks for reply.
I am not using any external usb hub...any way the mouse is not the problem its the kernel, thank you any way for trying to help me all this time!.
