    Hi,
    I am trying to install the ar5523 driver for my siemens Gigaset USB Adapter 1080, which uses the ar5523 chipset. It's well known that this chipset can be a pain. I am following a tut and almost all goes fine. i did the following:

    1.Install the build-essential, subversion, wget and wireless-tools packages:
    Code:
    # aptitude install build-essential subversion wget wireless-tools && exit
    2.Acquire the driver source and device firmware:
    Code:
    $ svn co svn://svn.berlios.de/fullstory/ar5523/trunk/ ar5523
    $ wget http://verein.lst.de/~hch/ar5523.tgz
    $ tar xf ar5523.tgz ar5523/uath-ar5523.bin --strip 1
    3.Build and install a driver source package:
    Code:
    $ cd ar5523 && dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
    $ su
    # dpkg -i ../ar5523-source*deb
    4.Build and install an ar5523-modules-* package for your system, using Module-Assistant:
    Code:
    # m-a a-i ar5523
    <------------Here comes the error!

    This error:
    Code:
    /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.35.8/arch/x86/Makefile:39: /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.35.8/arch/x86/Makefile_32.cpu: No such file or directory
    make: ***No rule to make target `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.35.8/arch/x86/Makefile_32.cpu'. Stop.
    Then I read this thread and insert the code, but with no result.
    So, I read this: http://www.offensive-security.com/ba...ktrack-2-6-34/ and changed the version number to 2.6.35.8, when running the commands I get told:
    Code:
    linux-source-2.6.35.8 is already the newest version.
    0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
    Also I upgraded the Module Assistent, before entering "m-a a-i ar5523"
    Can anyone give some advice for this error code?

    Thanx,
    TheFlyingDutchMan

    Edit: reinstalled a vmimage and Makefile_32.cpu is now included after headers update, only now is module.symvers missing and I can't build and install modules?

    Edit again:

    : First compiling errors start here with this command also:
    Code:
    $ cd ar5523 && dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
    Just downloaded BackTrack 3 and all files are present, but still getting compiling errors when running the "m-a a-i ar5523" command.
    And not a few, but about 40! Now also seems I got BackTrack 4 properly updated, but still 40 to 50 errors in the Module Assistent. Can someone tell me how to copy+paste these errors from the Module Assistent so I can show them here. Only thing i found in the Module Assistent was Printscreen which doesn't copy everything.

    regards.
