Help installing Drivers for wireless card

Hey, I am new to all this and am having some trouble setting up my wireless card. I believe it is an issue with the driver but am uncertain. I've heard there are compatibility issues with Broadcom cards. If anyone could help that would be great.

I am trying to run bt4 on my m11x
the card is a DW1520 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card
Manufacturer Broadcom

Not trying to be rude but again there are very few broadcom cards supported for bt4 so I feel it is safe to say that to save you a head ach look for a better supported card for bt4. There is a post here in the forum that some one posted a real nice one that there selling on ebay and a few at your local wall-mart.

best bet would to buy an alfa AWUS036H best purchase ever..it also allows you to use different sized antennas which also helps when pentesting / in general use

Ok, I'm quite new to all this and have spent ages trying to get good information on this particular card so hopefully this helps someone like me in the future when they go Googling.

PCI Vendor and Product ID: 14E4:4353

The driver loaded by Backtrack 4 R1 is wl - which basically makes it useless. It won't enter monitor mode.

bcrm80211 is a FOSS driver that supports the BCM4313, BCM43224, BCM43225 chipsets. However, I have absolutely no freaking idea if this driver supports monitor mode. I can't find anything to say it does or doesn't and I'm too much of a newbie to install bcrm80211 to check. EDIT: I contacted the people at Broadcom who are developing this driver. They confirmed that the driver does not support monitor mode...yet. It is on their 'to do' list though (although it's not listed in the TODO file on the git repository). So now we play the waiting game bcrm80211 will apparently be merged into the 2.6.37 kernel.

Just in case your hoping the b43, bcm43xx or bcm43legacy drivers support this adapter, they don't.

I hope this helps. If there is anymore information I can post about this chipset please let me know. Like I said I'm still new to linux but I'll do whatever I can.

The ndis wrapper will only allow a wireless connection though, wont it? Monitor mode won't work, or will it?

A working driver is included with Backtrack4 R1, unless the ndiswrapper allows monitor mode there is no benefit in replacing the default driver.

I have same problem, and I've looked around the internet for a while, it seems ndiswrapper or the sta wireless driver don't support monitor mode, so I believe we indeed do play the waiting game.
