Latest upgrade broke Xserver in my VM

I cannot start x in my BT4 VM (vmware fusion 3) after yesterday's upgrade. (I don't have the problem in my separate BT4 host machine install.)

The fatal error message as follows:

Fixed! Thank you for tip.

After applying the fix-vesa approach I found that while X would start I could not apply different resolutions. I was able to fix that by using the command:

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

while logged out of X. I restarted X and voila all of the graphics functionality I had lost with the upgrade was restored.

I did a video at youtube about installing vmware tools and it had to dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg command in BackTrack 4R1. And now that I installed vmware tools into BackTrack 4R2 version its a different problem. After you install the tools the xserver doesn't run into problems but it also doesn't allow the user, well it didn't allow me to use the dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg command. It told me that it was being used and it could not reconfigure. But after a reboot in CLI (Command Line Interface) one must not panic.

Just run the command as suggested above my comment.

The 1st answer it ask's you select no to the framebuffer if it's not at no. And the rest of the questions leave at default by arrowing down or to the left/right.

Thats my input for new you users so they don't panic. It's funny different problem from the R1 version and same fix. I was kind hoping it would a different fix.
