    Default VMWare problem

    Hello All,

    I have a problem installing BT2 Final on my harddrive using VMWare. I carefully followed the instructions in the document backtrack-hd-install.pdf. No error messages during the procedure. But when I reboot, the systems hangs immediately. It worked fine with BT2 Beta.

    Any idea?

    Default Additional information

    OK, I did a little research and found that no kernel image (vmlinuz) is written to /boot. So I copied the kernel image on the CD to /boot. But unfortunately the system still hangs after a reboot (I only see a underscore). Here my lilo.conf:

    boot = /dev/sda
    prompt
    timeout = 20
    bitmap = /boot/splash.bmp
    change-rules
    reset
    vga = 0x317
    image = /boot/vmlinuz
    root = current
    initrd = /boot/splash.initrd
    label = bt
    read-only

    I also tried root=/dev/sda1 and boot=/dev/sda.

    Default Same Problem Here

    I also use VMWARE 6.0 Beta on Vista business.

    The release of Backtrack 2 beta boots fine after following the install pdf.

    The Final release just won't boot.

    Default

    I use VMWARE 6.0 Beta on Vista business edition.

    I tried to Install Backtrack 2.0 Final within the VMWare software. (Single Boot)

    I can boot to Live CD and make the partitions and install necessary files using the installer program that came with BT2. I shutdown backtrack and it would not start up on its own without the CD. I think the install software on backtrack did not install the necessary files correctly. Perhaps the boot files.

    The older beta version works just fine.

    I followed the Install PDF to the teeth.
