How do I find out what the first x bytes on disk contain?
I would like to restore just those bytes from an earlier backup image.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
I will have to reinstall. My backup is corrupted also. <sad face />
thankfully, it is still running, and I can backup /home and /opt .
cp and mount apparently weren't affected.
at the least its just data, and your drive isn't bricked as well but still data loss is a terrible thing
