How do I install Backtrack to hard disk in vmware

When i try to install backtrack to hard disk in vmware I get an error saying
"Failed to unmount partitions
The installer needs to commit changes to partition tables, but cannot do so because partitions on the following mount points could not be unmounted:

/

Please close any applications using these mount points.

Would you like the installer to try to unmount these partitions again?
Go Back Continue"

Am using Vmware 6.5 and yes am new to linux.

How did you get to the point where if failed? Tell us the configuration of your virtual machine. If I had to guess, I would say that you pointed the installer to the wrong installation point.
