Well it's going to be hard for a guide to actually tell what is in your system, unless of course that guide is one on how to determine your wireless chipset.
So start with that one and work your way through and by the end you will know.
Hello! First off, Im sorry if this is the wrong section.
Now for my problem.
I followed a guide here on the BT forums
(http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...r-working.html)
to get my NetGear WNDA3100 working. On that thread is says my chipset is the AR9170 but in Backtrack under System>>Settings>>Hardware>>USB Devices it says my device is a Atheros
AR9001U0-(2)NG (I think thats another chipset model but I could be wrong.
When i go into the Konsole and type Airmon-ng my device does not show up.
Any ideas?

Atheros 9170 is my chipset. I already knew that. Im booting BT4 in a VM in VirtualBox. BT4 runs great and perfectly but it wont pick up on my WNDA3100.
they are the same thing.

Ok let's take a look at what you have posted so far and let's clear something up.
1. Your first post quoted above you see two different listings for a wireless card, and are asking for ideas which means
A. You are not sure and B. you need help.
2. In your second post you tell us you already knew what the card is.
This indicates that you don't need help. So what is the purpose of this thread if you already know what type of card you have?
Here is a good idea, next time you make a post do your homework first then report with the details in one post so that we don't have to try and guess what your "problem" is.
Further this card may have limited support in BT since it is an "N" based card.
Check against the ubuntu forums and or kernel.org for more info.
