Question Dell Wireless 1390 Broadcom Chipset is compatible i think

    Hi,
I have read many many things on the net before trying to crack some WEP or WPA. VMWare version of BackTrack3 is not compatible with my chipset. So I had to use Live CD version of BackTrack3.

    when i write down
    airmon-ng
my chipset and driver and device appears.
    eth1 Broadcom bcm43xx
I can listen all wireless networks around. After I write
    airodump-ng -w file --bssid 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx -c x eth1
then begin to monitor the Mac adress. After some attempts to get a handshake by --deauth trials, I am not able to get handshake(s). I just wonder something. I can monitor, collect data; but can't get a handshake.

Should I try more to get a handshake, or just let it go cuz my hardware is not compatible???

I'm using a laptop Dell 6400 Inspiron with broadcom chipset wireless card.

Moved to here until we have a better handle on whether the card is compatible or not.

My Dell Inspiron E1705 uses this card and I have successfully captured WPA handshakes from my router using -0.

Did you enable monitor mode? I found that if my wireless interface (wlan0 for me) does not work for something, using mon0 (generated by "airmon-ng start <interface>") in place of wlan0 will work. I think running "aireplay-ng <interface> --test" will tell you explicitly if injection is working.

    Hope this helps.

    of course i enabled monitoring.
i finally am able to get a handshake. i can collect some IV's also. when i try to crack it every thing is ok. but wordlist is not enough; which i think i can handle the situation.
The thing i wonder is "Can i crack networks with my chipset?"
because there implied it is "no injection" in the supported drivers list
