    Default Virtual Box installation problems

    Hello

I am struggling installing virtual box on bt4 after checking nano /var/log/vbox-install.log below is the error message that is showing and I don't know what it means.

Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernel. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run Make again.

If someone could provide any help I would be most grateful

    Thanks

I think this is more of a Ubuntu question than a BT one. It sounds like you're missing the kernel headers, so try
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
    which should fix that.
    Alfredo.

    Thanks well have tried this
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
and this is what it tells me
    Code:
    E: Couldn't find package linux-headers-2.6.30.9
    So i tried this too
    Code:
    apt-cache search linux-headers
    and still nothing

    I also have tried this
    Code:
    apt-get install build-essential
but again nothing all this tells me is that the build essential is at the newest version.

So i am still not sure what the original error message is asking me, or why virtualbox wont install correctly.

This has been cleared before. Take the .deb file from the official site and just install it.
