    Default vmware in BT4 hanging

I am trying to run a XP guest OS inside BT4 with VMWare 7.0.1. I am facing a completely weird issue.

    1. The guest OS boots properly and i can open command prompt and check the functionality.
    2. I start working on some exploits or trying to set things up for sometime, then i come and check the vm, the IO is at maximum and the vm is un-responsive.
    3. The partition on which i have kept the vm files is also un-responsive. I could not even list the files in the partition with "ls" command.

Now my doubt is whether vmware is making the partition un-responsive and at the same time it also hangs? or by itself the partition become un-responsive and that hangs the vm?

Has anyone come across this issue? I have checked the dmesg. I could not get much of any other logs. Let me know where i can get the logs for various services if it has to be checked.

You probably need more ram. Also you want to look at the vmare website/forum. This is not a BT problem.

Why not try VirtualBox, it's like BT and works just fine

I have searched the net and vmware forums. They had told this problem had something to do with ubuntu version. In 8.4 version the Vmware was working fine it seems, but in 8.10 the issues started.

That is the reason i posted it in BT site. Moreover i expected people using the latest BT4 might be facing the issue and may be able to direct me.

I also found if i moved the vm files from NTFS partition to ext3 partition it would work fine. But they were not sure how better it could be.

If any one has faced or is facing the issue, pool in your ideas.

    We already told you.
We help users who encounter problems with BT, not with any damn program, as for your problem I told you, use VirtualBox it's much better.
