How do I install Backtrack to VMWare ?
And for those that want to use the free VMWare player these two vid may help:
Booting a Live CD With free VMware Player:
if you use the above, make sure you increase the ammoun of RAM for the VM.
Making your own VM without the full version of VMWare:
I know you can get the free trial of VMWare, but I'd rather just use free tools that don't expire when you can:
Attached is a VMX file you can use to load the beta version of BackTrack in VMWare Player. For future versions you will want to change line 38 to reflect the newer ISO's file name:
ide1:0.fileName = "backtrack-beta-05022006.iso"
Hello all! First off thanks for the great release! I had previously installed Auditor on VMware's virtual HD with no problems. Now I have a problem with installing Backtrack to virtual HD. I am fairly new to Linux so bear with me. I was able to burn the BackTrack iso file onto disk and play it as a live cd no problem. I followed the above FAQ all the way up to "Choose use ISO image" step 13. I have searched everywhere and there is no file labeled "backtrack.iso".

Just burned his ISO
Surely you burned the original ISO image and then deleted it to free space in your HD. Instead selecting the .iso file set the system to boot from CD drive.
problems with vmware and intel b/g 2200
hi there! i wanted to run backtrack (or auditor, doesnt matter) with vmware player. but i have problems with my intel b/g 2200. i think vmware cant handle the card with windows at the same time.
"iwconfig" displays "eth0 - no wireless card ..."
when booting auditor from cd the card works fine, even monitor mode works.
or is there a way solving the problem??

This does not only happen with backtack, but happens with any OS you install with VMware

Run the Virtual Network Editor (vmnetcfg.exe, in the Player folder). Disable automatic bridging. On the next tab, specify your Broadcom NIC to be bridged to VMnet0.
This link the link given above my muts broken. I get a 404 Not Found error. Can anyone fix this please?
