can anybody tell me how to start creating my own dictionary files and where to get some for wpa/wpa2 cracking ive looked all over and cant find any useful information

You could start with The Renderlab: Church of Wifi WPA-PSK Rainbow Tables or ftp://ftp.ox.ac.uk/pub/wordlists/.

alright i found what i needed thanks for the help one more question tho. when i want t o use these with backtrack four do i need to put these in a specific place?

Put the wordlist somewhere your chosen cracking tool can get at it and configure it with the appropriate path.
