Default AWUS036H txpower 35 returnning error

I'm sorry to have to start yet another thread, but I don't see anyone else who seems to have this issue.

    When I type the command

    # iwconfig wlan0 txpower 35 or alternatively iwconfig wlan0 txpower 1000 mW I get the following error:

Error for wireless request "Set tx power" (8b26)
Set failed on device wlan0; invalid argument

I am using the AWUS036H 1000mW upgrade to the 500mW. From seaching google and the forums I see this command works fine in BT3. Do I need to use a different command in BT4 to increase the power?

Also on another note, deauthentication doesn't seem to be working. I am in monitor mode.

Power issue solved by doing the following
    iw reg set BO
iwconfig wlan0 txpower 30 or iwconfig wlan0 txpower mW1000. Unfortunately, apparently it's illegal to go above 27 and 500mW in the U.S.
