just curious i am going to buy this because of all th great reviews i have read on these forums but i had one question i couldn't really find a straight answer on does backtrack 4 auto detect this wireless or does it need drivers if so where can i get these drivers i would appreciate all the help

Backtrack 4 already has the drivers for this card so you should'nt have to worry about installing any. Also the Alfa AWUS036h is an exellent card for Backtrack, i have the 1 Watt version and it has performed beautiful, i am considering purchasing another.

I have this card too and it works great with Backtrack, it works straight away and you don't need to install or configure additional drivers, you literally just plug the thing in and it works right away.

Just so you know, if you use Ubuntu, this card will work with 32-Bit Ubuntu but it will not work with 64-Bit Ubuntu.

To get it working with 32-Bit Ubuntu, you have to install drivers. I started a thread about it a while back over on the Ubuntu forums: [SOLVED] RTL8187 working perfectly in Karma 9.10 - Ubuntu Forums.

There is no mention of BT4F on that page. Are we to assume that the same drivers etc are in BT4F?

The page was last modified on 23rd of august 2009 - Is there a similiar page for BT4F?

I would like to think that the drivers/info in bt4f are more up to date - It mentions the AWUS036H having 2 usb plugs, mine does not.

I think the awus036H is a different version now - However I could be wrong :-P

i have the same card, single usb cable. No problems. I THINK the dual plug is for additional power, if needed. Not 100% sure on that, though.

Correct older versions used a dual cable for more power. Newer ones do not need the dual cable since the power can be drawn from a single usb port.

finally got the card works like a charm. although i cant capture handshakes yet lol
