Default WUSB600N V2 (ralink rt3572 chipset) works like a charm

just got this beast (WUSB600N V2 with ralink rt3572 chipset) monitoring/injecting like a charm under backtrack 4 final running on vmware

follow this french guide for rt2070/rt3070 (translate with google):

    Crack-wpa.fr FORUM / Installer Drivers RALINK RT3070 sous Ubuntu pour l'injection !

with a notes mentioned here for "rt3070v2-next" branch

Please Help! With AWUS036NH RT2800 Driver Under uNetBootin USB BackTrack 4f

do not forget to blacklist what has to be blacklisted - see the guide for a precompiled kernel in the same thread a couple off messages above (but I think you will have to compile the kernel yourself instead of using the precompiled version)

during kernel configuration ('make menuconfig') i have ONLY selected <M> for "Ralink rt2800 (USB) support (EXPERIMENTAL)" and "{*}" for "rt2800usb - Include support for unknown (USB) drivers"

before compiling the package, ensure to fix 2 minor issues, mentioned in the same thread a couple of messages below

I also had to download and extract rt3071.bin firmware (yeah, looks more than strange - rt3572 chipset, working with rt2800 driver and rt3071 firmware ) from Debian's firmware-ralink 0.24 staging package here:

Debian -- Details of package firmware-ralink in sid

    and voila!

    yours truly,
    noname

i've been trying to get this work under both BT4 and Ubuntu LL for a couple of days now, but cant get it to work.

i feel like i must be missing something.

sometimes i get file not found errors on this step:
    sudo cp /boot/config-`uname -r` /usr/src/linu/.config

and other times i have compile errors when compiling the kernel.

I am following the french guide exactly, with the following modifications:
blacklisted (on the blacklist.conf file through nano)
    echo "blacklist rtl8187" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    echo "blacklist mac80211" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    echo "blacklist r8187" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    echo "blacklist rt2870sta" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    echo "blacklist rt3070sta" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    echo "blacklist rt2800usb" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

changed git checkout line to: git checkout -b rt3070v2-next origin/rt3070v2-next

and here is an extended portion of my make errors. Usually, i dont get this far, but i havnt got past this point yet. Any idea what is causing the winbond errors?

    Code:
    make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/rt2x00'

    I confirm WUSB600N V2 works under bt4 final , thx to nonamenoaim ...
it's a lot of pain to install but it works ...
to pass "winbond error" you must select "don't load stage drivers" in menu "stage drivers" when doing make menuconfig..(or find the one who don't works in this menu ...)
    then i had permissions errors , i have do chmod -R a-s /usr/src to pass ...
then i had an error wrong version ... must edit linu/debian/ruleset/misc/version_vars.mk to point to the new location of utsrelease.h, which is include/generated/utsrelease.h

then i had an error when dpkg .. i had to remove a link "firmware" in /lib ...

i add blacklisting but not for rt2800usb ... i need it unless the usb is not recognized ...

very very a lot of pain ... but it works !!! i had succeffuly crack wep with injection attack !

    I use Virtualbox and win7 x64.

    enjoy WUSB600N V2 !!

hope this help to succefully install without headache !

I've also been trying to get the wusb600n v2 to work with backtrack 4 r1 for a while now, and I've got a few questions about it. I'm kinda new to Linux, so sorry if they're real easy.

Is this talking about the rt2x00 package in the french link? And what are the 2 fixes, or is it just the rt3070v2-next fix that is mentioned?

Is this talking about the steps that were taken on the top of the please help link?

In the please help link, do we follow the code in the top, or are we just looking for the rt3070v2-next that we were told about?

About the rt3071.bin firmware. I have downloaded and extracted it, but what do I do with it after that?

I wanted to copy that rt2x00 folder that we download onto a flash drive so I don't have to download it again if I mess anything up, but I'm having permission problems. Any help?

I get everything else. I'd appreciate any help with this.
    Thanks!!!
