Broadcom wifi card problem - Compaq Mini 110

Hey guys,

Like many other noobs I'm having problems getting my wifi card to work. I've pretty much tried everything in my power, I read all sorts of posts on all sorts of forums. I tried using the ndis wireless driver utility, by installing the windows .inf file. Didn't work. When I run the ifconfig -a command all it shows is:

Also, when I use the ndis wireless driver utility, it gives a fatal error saying ndiswrapper module not found. Though the synaptic package thingy says it's there, I even tried reinstalling it. My wifi card is: Broadcom BCM4312.

Please, if you've had any success getting this card to work, or are confident your suggestions MIGHT point me in the right direction, share them with me and possible other noobs who're having this problem. Thanks for taking your time to read my post and I hope you're able to help me.

Grrr this question has been asked over and over again, but im obliged to help you since no one is likely to respond to your question and because I had the same problem with my compaq mini. In order to get the wifi card to work you need to upgrade BT system kernel. (http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...forum/1161.htm) details on that page on how to do it. But it is not worth doing reasons why, number one, some of backtracks programs will not function properly unless you know how patch a kernel, number two, broadcoms are useless for security penetration, they don't support packet injection and i've been reading that it is a pain in the a** to try and crack WEP with them forget about WPA. Because they can only work monitor mode. My suggestion to you is to get and Alfa usb wireless card like I did they are plug in and play and they are cheap 40 dollors and less.

Anyway, thanks for responding, and I'm glad im being advised to give up on my broadcom. I'll get me some usb wifi similar to the one you were talking about.
