How to distinguish the two versions of Alfa AWUS036H? (500mW vs 1000mW)

Hi.

I'm thinking in buying this usb dongle but in some places they sell it as AWUS036H-V5 1000mW and others as AWUS036H 1000mW.

The question is: How to know you are buying the real 1000mW version and not the 500mW?

What are the physical diferences in the dongle? What are the differences in the boxes?

Also, do you know a cheap to place to order if you live in europe?

(1) As far as I know there is no obvious way to tell the difference between the two models.
(2) My experience in the USA is that the customer support at Data Alliance is poor although they do ship quickly.

At the end of the day the results from Data Alliance testing show only a 7% difference between the two models. So I'm not sure that it makes a big difference which one you get. 500 mW is 27 dBm and one watt is 30dBm.

The 1w version has the number "1" printed on it, the 500mW version doesnt.

You also have 2 different printed circuit boards:

-green for the old 500 mW
-blue for the new 1000 mW

On the pcb of the new one, you can read REV:R01
