    Default xplico,error in synaptic package manager

    when i open synaptic package manager in bt4 , show this message : E: The package xplico needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
    E: Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.

    i try :

    root@bt:~# dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq xplico

    dpkg - warning, overriding problem because --force enabled:
    Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
    reinstall it before attempting a removal.
    (Reading database ... 225591 files and directories currently installed.)
    Removing xplico ...
    invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/xplico not found.

    aft i try :

    root@bt:~# cd /etc/init.d
    root@bt:/etc/init.d# sudo touch xplico
    root@bt:/etc/init.d# sudo chmod u+x xplico
    root@bt:/etc/init.d# cd
    root@bt:~# apt-get --purge remove xplico
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
    E: The package xplico needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

    NOTHING !!!!

    i try :

    sudo dpkg -i xplico_0.5.6_i386.deb

    Selecting previously deselected package xplico.

    Preparing to replace xplico 0.5.6 (using xplico_0.5.6_i386.deb) ...
    Unpacking replacement xplico ...

    Don't know if you suceed to fix your issue, I put anyway here what you shoud do if you still have it :

    Login root / sudo

    # touch /etc/init.d/xplico.rltm.console
    # touch /sbin/xplico
    # touch /etc/init.d/xplico
    # dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq xplico

    apt-get update
    apt-get upgrade

    ... and you're good.

    Since this thread was resurrected I will through my thanks in as well. Had this same problem last week and the above solution fixed the problem.
