Not able to start up backtrack 4 with startx

Hi all, I am new to this forum.

I downloaded backtrack 4 DVD image and burned onto a DVD-RW
I am able to boot into the menu and select the first option (1024x768) one.
And I waited until it gets to root so I typed startx.

But then the DVD didnt load after I have typed startx and I couldn't get into the desktop.

But I have tried with my macbook pro and I am able to get into the desktop and use firefox/terminal..

My PC Config:
Intel E6750 original clock with 4GB RAM
Gigabyte EP35-DS3R
ATI 2600XT 256MB DDR3
AR5005G wireless card.

Don't know what is wrong with my PC...

Anyone can help me out?

run fixvesa, then start the x server

You could try running dexconf before startx that might help you out.
