Default Sound Problem After Installing to HDD

    Hi guys!

I was previously using BT4 on VMWare 7. It was working fine.

Then I used Live CD and booted. It too worked fine and all sound, network drivers worked all fine.

So I installed it to HDD and now there's no sound but network is fine.

here is my output of lspci -v

It has detected the audio driver but not able to start it.
    My mic is not working.
    What might be the problem?

Also when I booted from Live CD artsd was shown in top's output and it was having high CPU
    usage than any other process.

So is there anything I can do to start my audio and mic? (via booting through Live CD)

    Nopes !

I did searchedand I was able to solve that issue for myself using kill -9 `pidof artsd` when I was using BT4 in VMWare. But my problem is not with artsd.

My problem is, sound drivers don't work after installing it to Hard Disk Drive though all works fine when I boot from Live CD

I think that arTs deamon is for controlling sound drivers which works when I boot from Live CD but after installing to HDD no sound.

And in the log I provided, Sound Device is detected but I'm not able use it.

    See this :

    Code:
    root@bt:~# aplay -l
    aplay: device_list:215: no soundcards found...

Today I discovered a strange thing.

When I was using GUI there was no sound and mic was also not working.

The output for aplay -l was no soundcards.....

Then keeping GUI as it is I went to Virtual terminal (ctrl+alt+f2) and logged in there.

But here in VT when I issued the same command aplay -l I got output as something like this

    Code:
    ****List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices****
    card 0: VT82xx [HDA VIA VT82xx], device 0: ALC861 Analog [ALC861 Analog]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: Subdevice #0
and when I issue the speaker-test command at VT it gives some harsh annoying sound. That means sound's working fine in VT but not at all in GUI mode.

So what can I do to play sound in GUI (ctrl+alt+f7).
    I've installed BT4 on HDD.

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanking in advance.
