i have buy a new laptop HP Compaq CQ 510 with wifi chipset Broadcom BCM4312 rev 01. when i boot up the bactrack 4 Final, i show b43 phy unsupport, as i read in this forum, i conclude to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.30.9 to 2.6.34.Xx but i had red if i do this a lot of backtrack tools in not function, so what must i do to get my wifi card worked? thanks

It's well known that the Broadcom cards are spotty at best. The simplest solution would be to purchase a USB dongle like the Alfa: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...-awus036h.html

If that is not an option, you can try searching some of the threads here to see if you can find support for your card. A quick search:

I have been on a painful mission to get the bcm4312 (pciid :4315) working as well. So far I have failed with compat-wireless, the shipped wl (broadcom-sta) driver, and the wl driver compiled from source.

But...

the wl driver that ships with bt4 pre final DOES work. I am typing this post from my Hp Mini 110 right now.

To be clear though, the wl driver will NOT help you with any sort of wireless pentesting, as this closed driver does not support monitor or injection.
