Default Not all WLAN detected by airodump-ng

Hi, I´ve got a strange problem.

Using Netstumbler on Windows I can detect 15 APs, using airodump-ng on BT4 with the same Adapter i´m just finding 3-5 APs.

I´m using an USB Network Adapater with Ralink Chipset strenghened with a cullender + aluminium foil.

check your channel hopping times, this is commonly overlooked but if airodump doesnt spend enough time on a channel then it can't detect an ap on that given channel.

    airodump -f

Ok... now nothing is working any longer.

After rebooting the BT4 VM and plugging the adapter to the VM airodump-ng doens´t find any APs.

    Used Commands:
    ifconfig ra0 up
    airmon-ng start (successfull)
    airodump-ng ra0

Chipset: RaLink 2560 PCI (USB Device)
    Driver: rt2500

well then that would only bring up the AP's for channel 6 and more or less effectively be useless in a pentest situation

That depends on whether the AP your looking for is on channel 6. He could already know what channel its on. And to be fair, For your average wireless router, channel 6 is the most common. However. If he doesnt already know which channel its on then yes this would be useless.
