    It seems that I can only connect to scope not the global setting.

    I think that only connecting to scope is fine and it works.

    But I want the global setting to be updated. How can I do that if OpenVas freezes every time I try to connect. Yes I did google it up. Not much help.

    My openvas log does not exist. Tried finding openvasd.conf to configure the logs, it does not exist.... (Google shows openvasd.conf to be in "/etc/openvas/openvasd.conf" but its not there)

    Thanks.

    I am stuck with the same issue for a few days now as well, I ended up disable ipv6 since I dont use it. that solved the "listening on ipv6 issue"

    however when i try and connect openvassd will go to about 80% CPU the following message will then dump in the .messages log
    Code:
    [Fri Nov 5 21:52:07 2010][6649] Inconsistent data (no desc): Brooky CubeCart index.php language XSS - not applying this plugin
    then vassd and vasclient go from 80-40% cpu to 0% cpu and never come back

    as the last post mentioned if I set up a scope it works fine.. connecting to the global scope fails.

    hi all

    it's ploblem with add user, video not chose Authentication (pass/cert) [pass] :.

    this patch working.

    Code:

    Add a new openvassd user
    ---------------------------------

    Login : test1
    Authentication (pass/cert) [pass] : pass
    Login password :
    Login password (again) :

    User rules
    ---------------
    openvassd has a rules system which allows you to restrict the hosts that test1 has the right to test.
    For instance, you may want him to be able to scan his own host only.

    Please see the openvas-adduser(8) man page for the rules syntax.

    Enter the rules for this user, and hit ctrl-D once you are done:
    (the user can have an empty rules set)

    Login             : test1
    Password          : ***********

    Rules             :

    Is that ok? (y/n) [y] y
    user added.

    First did you try what I mentioned above? I played around with the latest version of openvas that is in the repo and using my own tutorials went through and setup a user updated the system ran a scan etc. (see my guides) and everything worked just fine.
    If the above does not work then I can suggest you to apt-get purge openvas and then apt-get install openvas then go through my guide and try it out again.

    Ok I am not sure where you are having a problem or seeing a problem here.
    You can add certificates that you either generate your self of that you have imported from somewhere else. I have made self signed certificates and then work well.
    You may get warnings in regards to it being self signed, obviously however this is normal.

    @Archangel-Amael
    double checked your video (is the the tut that you referred to?) thought what the heck did a purge and install cert,user,update,re-enabled ipv6,start scanner

    same issue with GUI and CLI can log into the "non global instance only" hangs on same plugin error (I havent put this into another system yet to see if its the app-plug or bt distro copy issue)

    Code:
    oot@bt:~# netstat -anp |grep openvas
    tcp6       0      0 :::9390                 :::*                    LISTEN      6718/openvassd: wai
    tcp6       0      0 127.0.0.1:9390          127.0.0.1:56088         ESTABLISHED 6749/openvassd: ser

    I had this same problem but fixed it by recreating my user login password/credentials. I can now connect to the scanner from the client and run jobs.

    I had this problem once, but I solved this by stopping tor and privoxy which I had started prior to the update.
    Hope this help!

    I've change de user "Root" for another and works properly, netsat shows:

    root@bt:~# netstat -anp |grep openvas
    tcp6 0 0 :::9390 :::* LISTEN 5797/openvassd: wai
    tcp6 0 137205 127.0.0.1:9390 127.0.0.1:50627 ESTABLISHED 5882/openvassd: ser
