If you want to learn I really suggest you use Ubuntu or another suitable distro. BT is not made for the beginner in mind. Not saying you can't but it will not be easy and you need to read.Having said that i've read a lot about it's capabilities and what it can be used for , and out of all the Linux OS's available, Backtrack seemed the most useful.
