Default New To Linux, starting with Backtrack 4 on VMWare Workstation 7

    Hello.

Never used a Linux OS before. However I thought it was time to learn. Never really sat down and read any tutorials to learn to use Windows so didn't do massive amounts of reading on Backtrack. Having said that i've read a lot about it's capabilities and what it can be used for , and out of all the Linux OS's available, Backtrack seemed the most useful.

Installed it to VMWare workstation 7 the other day, figure it's best not to install it on one of my computers till i'm a bit more familiar with using it. Am faced finally with a command line root@B:T~#.

    No desktop.

Think i've got a long way to go :P.

If you want to learn I really suggest you use Ubuntu or another suitable distro. BT is not made for the beginner in mind. Not saying you can't but it will not be easy and you need to read.

You sure do. But with some reading and searching you might just get there.

Thanks for the excellent sources of info.

Already have a better understanding of concepts I didn't before, and have plenty to read now.
