1. Boot a linux
2. Copy sam (windows password) database (normally found somwhere like c:\winnt\system32)
3. Get a word list
4. Run john the ripper against the database
5. Profit.
I always use the administrator account and just now thought about what a pain it would be if, for some reason, I forgot my password, or someone were to change it. Is there any modern solution to do this?
