Someone please help me partition a hdd

Hello people i need some help , i have been able to make my usb bootable . I am currently on Win XP and one of my drive i.e of 60gb is empty , i want to delete that partition and then install bt4 in it, but i don't know how to safely delete that partition and also when i come to the installation part of bt4 how will i know that bt4 will be installed in the partition i deleted?
