    Default I have an idea

When someone has not done their research, simply do not respond with an answer other then "go read ...." . Do not encourage the lazy people.

While the idea does have merits (I believe, not sure with the double negative) but if you choose to answer that is on you. No one will discourage that, so long as the answer is correct. Or giving users some search terms and or links can be helpful as well.

Sadly that doesn't work. History has prooven that people ask questions believing they are somehow entitled to an answer (though said belief is blatantly wrong in a volunteer community based on a free product). When they don't get an answer we end up with:
    • People bumping threads
    • People cross posting
    • People posting the same question over and over again
    • People PM'ing users who are online or have high post counts.

So in the end doing nothing is actually less productive (and more annoying to the majority) than telling them they're clueless and that they should get a clue (by searching or RTFM, etc).
I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.
