    Default Wicd works fine on Live CD but not on hdd install

    When using the live cd wicd works fine but on my hdd install it tells me "no networks found". The service starts when I issue "service wicd start" in the terminal but still no networks found when I run Wicd. Any thoughts?

    Have you tried connecting/associating to the wireless network manually?

    Here is a copy of my wap_supplicant.conf file

    root@bt:~# cat /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    ap_scan=1
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant

    network={
    ssid="XXXX"
    scan_ssid=0
    proto=WPA
    key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
    psk="XXXXXXXXXXX"
    pairwise=TKIP
    group=TKIP
    }

    Here is the output from my console or wlan1

    I listed the output from my terminal below. I've done everything that I can think of but I still can't get out to the internet. My wired connection works fine so I know that my /etc/resolv.conf file is right. My route table is right. I works in when I'm running the live cd. I'm lost.

    The WICD Network manager works as soon as i issue start-network at the commandline, as root. The live cd boots up as root however the installed version has a user account and root.

    Wicd works. It tells me that there are no wireless networks to connect. Im sitting next to the wireless router. It works fine as live cd but when I take the cd out and use my hdd install it doesn't work. My eth0 works fine either way. I can connect to the access point manually but still no internet. ??

    tonywiggins:

    I'm presuming connecting manually via the command line actually worked?
