    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 30394 cylinders
    units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x5000000

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 1 29640 238083268+ 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 29641 30394 6056505 5 Extended
    /dev/sda5 29641 30394 6056473+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris

    It is not our fault you failed to look into basic instructions and understand things that for most of us are simple. This is not a hack your neighbours distribution, it is meant for people who know what they are doing. The team at offsec put out some great tools, which work well. The bugs that they do have are resolved quickly and efficiently when they are reported correctly.

    Unfortunately no one has yet figured out how to cure human stupidity. People are working on it.
    Still not underestimating the power...

    There is no such thing as bad information - There is truth in the data, so you sift it all, even the crap stuff.

    Sounds as though you were messing with something that you had no clue as to what you were messing with.

    Question, would you handle a firearm without first knowing all the safety functions of the firearm?

    Chalk this up as a lesson learned, don't mess with something you know nothing about.
    A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

    Try an external usb hard drive case, plug your hard drive into it, plug the case with hard drive to another PC.
    Install and run a data recovery software, scan drive, navigate through the results and rescue what you can. Hopefully you'll save most of your data.
    I've done it numerous times with friends who screwed up and formatted the hole hd and i was able to save all their data.
