Default How do I install RT2870 driver?

I have a linksys WUSB54GC ver. 3 usb adapter and have spent the past 3 days searching for ways to get it to work. Turns out I need to install the driver listed here: forums.remote-exploit.org/136476-post1*dot*html. I know its a rather basic task but I'm not able to find a step-by-step guide anywhere.

I found a guide to install the rt73 driver here: garrettreid*dot*com/projects/installing-rt73-drivers-in-backtrack/ and was able to download the new driver the same way as in the guide, but am unable to follow the directions from there.

Any help or advice as to where else to look would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    Thanks,
    Wyatt

    On which distro? BT2, BT3, BT4, etc.?

If it's BT4, the driver is already preinstalled. However the firmware is not, but it can be found here:

As for installing it, follow fnord0's steps here for installing the RT2870 firmware:

Thanks for the response - I'm currently running BT3 on VMware Player.
