    Default Lenovo T410

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 3100M with 256MB card functions however you need to install nvidia-driver/ nvidia-config.

My only problems are with the two network cards:

Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 - not working out of the box, i will post how when i get it figured out
Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) PCI-Express (Intel 82577LM) - is also not working, i will post further when i get it working.

I understand how to use networking in linux. the issue i am having is when i try and bring my wireless card up it errors out; wlan0 does apear in iwconfig where ias eth0 does not appear in ifconfig -a. after looking at the dmesg i've found that it is looking for two firmware files iwlwifi-6000-1.ucode and iwlwifi-6000-2.ucode. I am only able to find iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode (via another post on these forums). But i dont know how to get it to look at that firmware.

    Result of dmesg for wlan0:
    iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-6000-2.ucode
iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: iwlwifi-6000-2.ucode firmware file req failed: -2
    iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-6000-1.ucode
iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: iwlwifi-6000-1.ucode firmware file req failed: -2

I do have a working wireless dongle but it would be nice to have the internal card functional as well. obviously.

As far as the ethernet card goes i havent spent a lot of time searching for a solution to that. The ethernet interface isnt even showing in ifconfig -a. lspci result for the ethernet card is:

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LM Gigabit network Connection (rev 06)

here is the output of lshw, as you can see my eth0 doesnt get named under the device col.

    Code:
    root@bt:~# lshw -short

    hi all,

I cannot get my Intel gigabit network card to work either.
I am running Back Track 4 on a Lenovo T510
There is no result/match when I run
    "modprobe e1000e"
My Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LM Gigabit NIC
Did either of you get this card working under BT4
    Thanks
    J

Ok I have the soltion for this issue:

Click this Link to get access to the drivers

Click the link above to download the drivers for the gigabit card. Download it on another laptop and transfer to a USB drive. Mount it to the backtrack machine and extract the tar file and follow the 'README' file to install the drivers.

When you finish installing make sure you run '/etc/init.d/networking start'

run ifconfig and check to see if 'eth0' shows up
