cracking wep (problem)

I facing a problem when trying crack wep could anyone help !!

my card : Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG


Followed the steps :

1- airmon-ng stop wlan0 :

Interface Chopset Driver

wlan0 Intel 3945ABG iwl3945 - [phy0]


2- ifconfig wlan0 down

3- macchanger --mac XX:XX:xx:xx:xx wlan0


4-airmon-ng start wlan0


Interface Chopset Driver

wlan0 Intel 3945ABG iwl3945 - [phy0]SIOCSIFFLAGS: no such file or directory
(monitor mode enable on mon0)

5- airmon-ng wlan0:
ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: no such file or directory

Use 'iwconfig' to list devices. If you use ifconfig wlan0 down, then use ifconfig wlan0 up after the macchanger.

airmon-ng start wlan0 tells you 'mon0' is the monitor mode device so use that.

ie:
airodump-ng mon0

Most tutorials on wep / wpa cracking instruct you to spoof your MAC address but its not required.

Stop using macchanger and prove that you can do the basic steps first. I have the strangest feeling you're not going to be able to, but I can't confirm and all that (it being that holiday today that falls on the day of the ol' time worship of the sungods).
