Display works on Live-CD, but not when it's install to the HD
Hi,
Strange thing...
When i run the bt4-mod Live-CD the display fully works.
With 1280x800 full resolution at 60Hz and 256 Video RAM.
But after i have installed it to the HD and run it, I can't start X.
When I check witch driver is loaded while running the Live-CD it tells me it is VESA driver (generic)
I've tried replacing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf with /etc/X11/xorg.conf-vesa
With no result.
I also looked in the Live-CD /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. And it looks the same as the one i got on the HD.
Any one got a clue on what to do now?

HP Compaq 6910P Laptop
When i run Xorg the display just draw the default screen with the mouse and just hang there. I can move the mouse thought.
Oh, yeah. I have no swap space
(irrelevant info i guess)

Try fix-vesa before starting the xserver.
Also the type of video card may be relevant info to provide.
There is probably a supported driver in the repos.

Hi,
Oh that's tight, my bad. Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family is the name of it.
Been googeling a bit more, guess i need to install xserver-xorg-video-intel
I have found this very helping,
hxxp://blaise.ca/blog/2007/07/01/ubuntu-704-feisty-fawn-with-an-hp-compaq-6710b/
I cant get the wlan led on the laptop to glow yet, so I can't use apt-get.
I've download
hxxp://xorg.freedesktop.org/archive/individual/driver/xf86-video-intel-2.9.1.tar.gz
to a USB and tried to install it with no success. The make command doe's not seem to work.
./configure && make && make install
Right?
(Maby should move this thread to the newbie section)
*Edit
The fix-vesa command did not do the trick, sadly.
... it works with the Live-CD!
I shouldn't need to install any drivers.
I needs to be the xorg.conf hmm.
