    By plain systems you mean OS with no SP's?

    I did manage to exploit my XP machine with metasploit a few weeks ago, it had absolutely no SP's installed. But about 2 minutes later I got a reboot message. I'm guessing because of the buffer overflow. Also, the blue taskbar suddenly changed into classic gray.

    Is it possible that ms08-067 just gotten outdated because of all the Microsoft updates and improvements?

    It means Service Packs are OK but not hotfixes or other Microsoft security patches.
