    Default persistent BackTrack 4

    Hi,

In a nutshell, persistent BackTrack 4 (BT4) will work if using a casper-rw named partition or a casper-rw named loop file.

However, I am not able to make the loop file option work. Any one can help?

    Please help.

*EDIT*: PS, I'm experienced Debian user, and not too sure how the versioning works in Ubuntu. I mean, since BT4 is based on a old version of Ubuntu, how current is casper? Is there any online man page for the version of specific casper that BT4 uese?

    thanks

    Hello sxfpt,

I followed these 2 steps to create my persistent file.

    Code:
    dd if=/dev/zero of=casper-rw bs=1M count=800
    mkfs.ext3 -F casper-rw
This gave me an 800Mb file that I placed at the root of a FAT32 partition. I did put it in a different partition then the casper directory, but I don't think that that makes a difference. I wanted it in a separate partition that i could manipulate while booted in BT4 non-persistent or Windows. This has worked fine and is detected at boot.
