found a great little tool for installing nvidia drivers
apt-get install envyng-qt
Launch EnvyNG's GUI by selecting it in the "Applications/System Tools" menu.
select the recommended version
click apply
restart
new shiny new drivers![]()
Just to be clear those drivers are not CUDA enabled.
I tried to use EnvyNG, even reinstalled it and installed Pyton 4, when i run EnvyNG nothing happens. I have Backtrack 4 installed to a hard drive. I have used EnvyNG before on ubuntu with no problems. Any suggestions.

Its effective for Nvidia Cards enabled platform.I would rather suggest you to install Nvidia Linux binary drivers as original drivers from Nvidia works perfect with Nvidia chipset.
my box is acer aspire 4530 with nvidia geforce 9100m G..i installed nvidia using nvidia-glx
