    Default WICD not starting!

Not entireley sure if this is the right place for this but i'm so far failing at being able to connect or even view wireless connections. WICD will not start at all when i click on it. And running /etc/init.d/wicd start on terminal brings error FAILED. I also did services >Network > start NETWORK to no avail. Any helps appreciated, thanks.

P.S: Also my light on my laptop for the wireless is not blinking and glowing like it does in Windows or Arch(Linux). Perhaps the problem lies there? Though i don't understand why this would effect WICD starting. Also i'm using Backtrack 4 just to clear things up, if you need any more info to help, let me know.

NEVERMIND: Nevermind i got it. I ran /etc/init.d/networking start and got permission denied. So sudo /etc/init.d/networking start and it started then ran WICD. I guess you can either delete this or leave it for someone else whose stuck on that. Thanks anyways.

I\m having the same issues with a fresh install of BT4 pre final but the fix that worked for SL43R didn't help me out >&

    iwconfig returns the following:

    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

    usb0 no wireless extensions.

    wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

    wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:""
    Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
    Tx-Power=14 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thrff Fragment thr=2352 B
    Power Managementff
    Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
    Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
so i'm guessing its not an issue with the wlan adapter ... i got the ethernet link working fine as well

i'm on a Lenovo ThinkPad x200s if that helps
