Kismet log files
I am trying to read the kismet log files.
What is the best way to view these, particularly the .xml (.netxml) files?
when I open it in firefox all I see is the unformatted xml output. I can see
all my information is there, I just have to search for it all. Is there any way to beautify it? I have tried "kismet log viewer" but that project seems to have been abandoned long ago and I get errors when I run it.
Do I need to make a style sheet?
I know barely anything about html , even less about xml
I saw in a pureh@te post, some kind of html log file but i don't know what that is either.
You can also use the Konquerer(sp.) browser to view .xml files.
Yes I can use Konqueror, But i am trying to beautify it .
Make it legible with out the tags ex: <essid>MY_AP</essid> to just essid
Any reason your just interested in the .xml format?
I always reviewed the .cvs output file to view all the information captured eg. essid, bssid, channel etc.
Pretty sure that Kismet automatically saves this type of output (.cvs) by default, unless I am mistaken.
I have used CSVed (csved.sjfrancke.nl/index.html) in the past for analyzing a large amount of entries (5,000 or so) and it was pretty nice, with filter options, searching etc. Only bad point is that it is a Windows based application, the website states that it is 2000 + XP only but I ran it on Vista with no issues.
Guess it depends if you want to review the file on the fly, from Backtrack, or after the event. However, there may be a similar Linux app. for viewing .csv files that may provide a nicer viewing pleasure.
I tried CSVed, It is not exactly what i was looking for...
I thought there was an easy way to convert the xml file into an easy to read html file much like the "kismet log viewer" program did. I wanted this to be able to catalog all the access points I have worked on.
I guess I will have to try and learn a little perl and see if I can get this to work with bt4...
Unless somebody can reccomend a good catalog program.
