    Red face Problem with 8187

Hello together, i hope that here is someone who can help me (sorry for my bad english)

Hallo zusammen, hoffe hier auf Hilfe.

I have a Problem with theR8187. Have a HP Laptop with a USB Wlan Stick with this chip inside. BackTrack 3 beta (i have the same problem with BackTrack 2) is starting without any problem. But if i use with iwconfig i dont find the Wlan Controller. iwconfig write:

Habe ein Problem mit dem R8187. Habe einen HP Rechner mit einem USB Stick der diesen beinhaltet. BackTrack 3 Beta (habe das gleiche Problem auch mit BackTrack zwei) startet darauf problemlos. Aber wenn ich mit iwconfig danach suche erhalte ich die folgende Ausgabe:

    iwconfig
    lo no wireless extensions
    eth0 no wireless extensions

    lsusb is showing
    lsusb zeigt folgendes an:
    Bus 4 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 3 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 2 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
Bus 1 Device 2: ID 0bda:8187 Realtec Semiconductor Corp
    Bus 1 Device 1: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 5 Device 1: ID 0000:0000

And with lsmod i see (Part):
Und mit lsmod erhalte ich (Auszug):
    Module Size Used by
    r8187 45188 0
    ieee80211_rtl 60292 1 r8187

If i use BackTrack2 on another Laptop (Packard Bell) with the same Wlan Chip, but build in, i have the same problem. On this Laptop BackTrack 3 beta isent starting.
Anyone here know a solution for me ?

    Thank You for Your help
    Schon jetzt bedanke ich mich

    Regards
    Gruß

    Try
    Ifconfig wlan0 up

I have this Chipset, and had to download the drivers for that chipset, and install them each time I start up BT3, though I have automated a script to do that for me. If you can't find the drivers, let me know, and I'll send mine to you.

Please. I have the same problem, If you would be so kind to give me a link. Would you like to share the automated script also and how to execute in console window?

    Thanks

Yeah no worries, I'll post it next time I'm using BackTrack (shouldn't be too far away). And yes, I wrote the script, but I'm an advocate for open source, so I'll post that for you and how to run it. What I'll do is upload it all in an archive, then you can unzip and run the script, which will also install the drivers and put it into monitor mode for you.

    OK, here it is:
Download the tar.gz file from here:
    http://www.4shared.com/file/39843919...ified=76240773
This is an archive of the 8185 drivers, which work for the 8185 obviously, but also for the 8187. Download it to your /root/ folder. Then open up a console and type:
    tar xfz wireless.tar.gz
    ./wireless.sh

This will install the drivers for you and start your device. These definitely work for the PCI versions, and assuming they would be the same for USB, but if not, give me a hollar. After those two have completed, do the usual and type:
iwconfig #to find out wireless interface names
airmon-ng stop wlan0 #this is the probably interface name
    airmon-ng start wlan0 #again, same thing

And then you should be ready to go.
