Hi am a bit of a Linux newbie and am confused has anyone tried grub with windows 7? I tried to install it to usb hard drive but it failed evan though it wrote grub over the windows 7 boot loader on the primary drive. Any ideas how to get this working would be help full.

I don't know if i'm replying on a right thread, so I apologise if I don't.
I have hp 6735s laptop. I created bootable usb memory stick and CD with bt3 on it. They are both working on hp 510 laptop, but they don't work on mine!
It says that the operating systeme is up, but it doesn't show desktop. It can't find server X, which is for graphics I think. I also tried to boot knopix from cd, and I get blank screen (it also works on other computers... porblem with graphic card again).
It seems that something is wrong with recognizing my graphic card (ati radeon hd 3200).
I tried commands: xconfig and startx, but it still doesn't help.
Can somebody help me with this?

Hii i hav some problem with backtrack 4 final booting through usb... when i boot bt4 from usb everything works fine but after some time the usb gets disconnected automatically and when i logout of bt4 it says read only file system cannot read squashfs since usb is disconnected..and i hav no othr option except to reboot the system by pressing the power button
