Alfa usb awus036h DOA?

I recently ordered an Alfa awus036h. I believe the part to be defective because as soon as it is plugged in to a usb port an audible high pitch noise can be heard
coming from the adapter. When it is plugged in to my windows computer it comes up with an error stating that the USB device is not recognized. I tried the adapter in backtrack but the device doesn't even show up when i run the command lsusb. I've tried different usb ports on different computers and tried using a different usb cable but no luck.

Any ideas or is it probably defective?

Yeah, send it back and get a new one. You should have warranty.

sounds like they sent you a bad one mine works great it dose make noise but it also works

Seriously if one looks at the posts that you have made you are merely digging up old irrelevant ones. Please stop. If you find that you just have to make posts then contribute something useful to new posts instead of old ones that are dead.
