I'm using Backtrack 4 booting from a usb stick.
My Sony laptop has the new Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN adapter.
I was trying to get aircrack to work and i kept having that lame "SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory" error...After a lot of searching i found out that it has to do with the adapter's firmware so i checked in /lib/firmware folder and it has firmwares for up to 5000 series and not for the 6000 ones.
Anyway,i found the the microcode image needed for my adapter are here: http://intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwif...-126.96.36.199.tgz
So, my 1 million $ question is.....Can i copy them somehow from the laptop's hard disk (using windows 7) to the usb stick and place them inside the /lib/firmware folder? If not, is there anything else i can do about the firmware?
Needless to say, i'm a total linux noob
