    Default Backtrack 3 monitor mode help

    got a netgear wg111v3 , and got given a cd with kismet, aircrack, bt3, etc, linux o.s


    i trying to put this into monitor mode as kismet will not load up!


    i type iwconfig into a shell konsole,, and just said lo-no wireless extensions

    then eth0 - no wireless extensions


    so tried airmon-ng


    i get the response


    interface driver chipset


    all empty so anyone have any ideas?

    WG311 Rev 03 has a Marvell Chip, and is also not compatible (Device Information : 11ab:1faa (rev 03), Work with ndiswrapper which means you can only use it as managed mode.buy a cheaper USB Dongle if you wants to proceed ahead.

    been told the netgear wg111v3 will work for packet injection, can someone please help meout on the topic, to do with the responses im getting when inserting commands.

    i can confirm that the wp111v3 does successfully do injection on the 2.6.29.6 kernel without patching the driver

    have you loaded the kernel drivers for the card? dmesg might provide revealing output

    Are you running backtrack 3 in VmWare??
